Town Council Public Hearing related to Senate Bill 9
Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 6:30 PM
Senate Bill (SB) 9 became effective on January 1, 2022. The most significant component of this bill is that it allows homeowners in the state within single-family residential zoning districts to build up to two housing units on their existing lot or to legally split their single-family lot into two separate parcels and add up to two units on each parcel.
The Town Council previously adopted an urgency ordinance that established regulations for the subdivision and development of qualified SB 9 lot split applications and housing development projects. The urgency ordinance adopted by the Town Council to regulate SB 9 projects is set to expire on January 17, 2023.
The Town Council will hold a public hearing to consider introduction of a proposed ordinance to establish permanent regulations for the subdivision and development of qualified SB 9 projects. The amendments establish a ministerial review process and development standards for qualified urban lot split applications and housing projects submitted to the Town pursuant to SB 9.
