NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that the Town of Corte Madera Building Department and Central Marin Fire Authority will hold a public hearing to consider recommendations to the Town Council for the adoption of the 2022 California Building Standards Code with local amendments and the 2022 California Fire Code with local amendments. The first proposed ordinance repeals and reenacts the Town of Corte Madera Building Code Chapters 15.01, 15.03, 15.05, 15.06, 15.07, 15.08, 15.09, 15.11, 15.13, 15.15, and 15.17 and adopts by reference Parts 2, 2.5, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, and 12 of the California Building Standards Code, Title 24 California Code of Regulations with local administrative amendments. The second proposed ordinance repeals and reenacts the Town of Corte Madera Fire Code, as codified under Chapter 15.02, and adopts by reference the 2022 California Fire Code and Appendix A of the 2021 International Wildland-Urban Interface Code, with Local Amendments Supported by Local Findings. Both code adoption ordinances are exempt pursuant to the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) guidelines and are being advanced as part of the triennial cycle of building and fire code updates with the State. The Town’s prior building and fire code adoptions occurred in 2019.
These ordinances were introduced at a regular Town Council meeting on Tuesday, November 1, 2022 and the public hearing for consideration of adoption will be held at the regular meeting of the Corte Madera Town Council on Tuesday, November 15, 2022 at 6:30 p.m., at 6:30 p.m., in the Town Council Chamber of Interim Town Hall 240 Tamal Vista Blvd., #108, Corte Madera, California, at which time any and all persons interested in this matter may appear and be heard. If you challenge this project in court, you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the public hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the Town of Corte Madera. All written comments should be delivered to the Planning and Building Department at Corte Madera Interim Town Hall, 240 Tamal Vista Blvd., #110, Corte Madera, California, prior to the public hearing.
The California Building Standards Code is Title 24 of the California Code of Regulations and consists of the complete set of construction codes adopted by the State of California as the construction standards to be applied to all construction occurring within cities and counties in the State of California, namely: 2022 California Building Code, 2022 California Fire Code, 2022 California Residential Code, 2022 California Electrical Code, 2022 California Mechanical Code, 2022 California Plumbing Code, 2022 California Energy Code, 2022 California Existing Building Code, 2022 California Historical Building Code, and the 2022 California Green Building Standards Code. The Town will also be considering the addition of Chapter 15.25 All-Electric Construction in Newly Constructed Buildings and also considering the adoption of administrative provisions to implement these construction standards.
The ordinances being considered for adoption following the public hearing scheduled for November 15, 2022 were introduced on November 1, 2022. A copy of the 2022 California Building Standards Code (including the 2022 Fire Code) is on file with the Building Official and may be made available for public inspection upon request.
