[ARCHIVED] Update Regarding Town’s Housing Element & Housing Opportunity Sites

Housing Element Logo

In response to public comments received on the Town’s housing plan, Planning Department staff will be discussing the potential addition of two commercial properties (240 Tamal Vista Boulevard and 100 Tamal Plaza) to the Housing Opportunity Sites list at the June 14th Planning Commission and June 21st Town Council meetings.

The two additional sites would be added to the 9 properties that were identified as Housing Opportunity Sites during the course of the Housing Element public workshop series earlier this year. An updated map highlighting the new sites can be accessed here.  The public workshop series can be accessed here.

In addition, the Town has received several comments from community members related to the inclusion of Site 1 (601 Tamalpais Drive) as a Housing Opportunity Site and Staff intends to discuss potential options and future actions that could be taken with respect to this site at the these upcoming meetings.

Staff continues to be committed to facilitating a transparent and inclusive process related to the development of the Town’s Housing Element Update.  The discussion of potential changes to the Housing Opportunity Sites with the Planning Commission and Town Council at this time is intended to disclose new information and allow for public input and comment prior to the release of the Draft Housing Element and Draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Report, expected in mid-July.

For more information, please refer to the staff reports for each meeting. The staff report for the Planning Commission meeting can be accessed from the June 14 agenda, which will be published on Friday, June 10.  The staff report for the Town Council meeting can be accessed from the June 21 agenda, which will be published on Friday, June 17.  For more information or questions regarding the upcoming meetings, please contact Planning Department staff: Martha Battaglia (mbattaglia@tcmmail.org) or Adam Wolff (awolff@tcmmail.org).
