At the Tuesday, April 5, 2022 Town Council Regular Meeting, Mayor Casissa read the following statement:
"As Russia continues its invasion of Ukraine, we are distraught and saddened for those facing widespread devastation and a humanitarian crisis. Our thoughts go out to all that have been impacted by this war, including those in our local communities that have family, friends, and loved ones that have been directly or indirectly affected by this war."
Staff was directed to publish this statement on Town's web site, social media platforms, and other applicable media sites.
In addition to the above, Mayor Casissa said "Side note: These are uncharted waters, as the Town usually does not get involved in world affairs/events. Upon reading newspapers, watching the news, and seeing the devastation, loss of innocent lives, people displaced from their homes, as well as their country, it seemed like the right thing to do. Hopefully, a statement of this kind is the last the Town will have to make."
