We continue to receive phone calls from frustrated residents who have been dialing the old DPW number ending in 5057 and getting no answer. We'd like to assure you that our Customer Service Representative is present to help you but you have to call the NEW DPW phone number to reach her. The NEW DPW phone number is (628)258-0294.
Unfortunately, the old phone number is out of service and although for the past two months we have been trying really hard to inform the community that a new phone number exists, we have not been very successful. Our theory behind this is related to the "new" area code.
Like many residents in Marin, we too were confused as to why new phone numbers have the 628 area code. It appears that the 628 area code has been actively serving Marin County residents for over 6 years. Who knew? In February of 2015, 628 was added to the area previously served by the existing 415 area code. The County of Marin first issued a press release highlighting the addition of this area code to Marin County residents back in February of 2015.
Now that we have this information, we ask that you please help us spread the word. If you need to get a hold of the Public Works Department, please call the NEW phone number (628)258-0294. This number has been updated all over the website and we even contacted Google to correct the information.
