[ARCHIVED] Planning Commission Hearing- Housing Element Rezoning -12/13

ODDS Housing Policy Newsflash Photo

For the past year, the Town of Corte Madera has been working on updating its Housing Element. As part of the current update, the Town needs to plan for the construction of more than 700 new homes. In order to meet this requirement, the Town has identified ten housing opportunity sites where additional new housing units would be allowed. The identified housing opportunity sites require increasing the existing residential densities.

The Corte Madera Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 on a proposed ordinance to establish development standards for the identified ten housing opportunity sites associated with the update to the Town of Corte Madera Housing Element (6th Cycle, 2023 – 2031). The zoning ordinance amendments would implement the rezoning of the housing sites to allow for greater density and larger buildings consistent with the Town’s Draft Housing Element and its strategy to meet the Regional Housing Needs Allocation (RHNA). The ordinance amendment will establish the development standards for the identified housing opportunity sites, including the residential density, maximum building height, required setbacks, parking standards, and landscaping requirements. The Planning Commission will also consider proposed amendments to the Land Use Element of the General Plan and the environmental document prepared for the project (Subsequent Environmental Impact Report).

How to attend, participate, and provide comment at the Planning Commission Meeting:

Additional information on the Housing Element Update, including the draft Housing Element submitted to the California Department of Housing and Community Development (HCD) and the draft Subsequent Environmental Impact Report is available on the Town’s housing webpage (www.cortemaderahousing.org). The staff report will be available for review on Friday, December 9, 2022 and will be posted to the Town’s housing webpage.
