Beginning, Tuesday, July 6, 2021, a new community swim program will initiate at Redwood High School, thanks to the recently founded Marin Pirates Foundation, which provides free swim lessons to underprivileged children.
Admission will be $10 per person, first come, first served. Discounts are available on need basis. No registration is required except for swim lessons. An additional $5 will be charged for the water aerobics class, which will be taught by Rebecca Callaway.
The schedule, subject to change, is as follows:
- 12PM to 1PM – Water Aerobics Class, lap swimming, and swim lessons
- 1PM to 3PM – Open swim, lap swimming and swim lessons (Children under 14 must be supervised)
- Weekends: To be announced, at https://marinpirates.org/
Administrating the day-to-day program will be Marco Farahmand (RHS class of ’10.) Marco has coached both competitive swimmers and water polo players in Marin for ten years, including assisting the Redwood High School Boys’ Water Polo Team to its first ever North Coast Section finals.
Attendees and the general community are encouraged to help underprivileged children improve their water safety through the foundation’s free learn-to-swim classes, by making a donation to the foundation on the website.
