As previously mentioned over the past month or so via weekly e-news, water use restrictions are in effect within our Community. As you may be aware, Marin Municipal Water District has adopted Ordinance No. 449 which includes a comprehensive list of mandatory water conservation measures to enhance the District’s water conservation program. The adoption of these conservation measures is aimed at reducing the quantity of water used both indoors and outdoors by all District customers to preserve the District’s limited water supply due to the current drought. This action is necessary to preserve remaining water supply given the uncertainty of future supply conditions.
The Town of Corte Madera, along with the residents of Corte Madera, are required to conserve nonessential water use per the Ordinance. Some measures Public Works has undertaken include reducing the use, and augmenting the timing, of landscape irrigation in the Public right-of-way and at Town-owned parks and facilities. The community may notice visible differences to the landscaping, which may result in less vibrant center medians and park landscaping. Although we understand the importance of our flourishing Town landscape, complying with water use restrictions is a mandatory requirement.
We ask for community cooperation and patience while we help reduce the impact of this drought. The Town also requests that the members of our community familiarize themselves with this Ordinance, and strive to comply with all of its requirements.
