Smoke-Free Housing Ordinance Amendment (Move to 100% Smoke-Free Multi-Unit Residential Housing) to be considered for introduction at the Tuesday, March 2, 2021 Corte Madera Town Council Meeting
At its upcoming Town Council Meeting scheduled for Tuesday, March 2, 2021, at 6:30PM, the Town Council will hold a public hearing, receive public comment and consider the introduction of Ordinance No. 1006, which would amend various sections of Chapter 6.14, Prohibiting Smoking In Public Places, Places Of Employment, Other Areas, And Multi-Unit Housing, and Chapter 6.16, Tobacco Products Sales Prohibited From Vending Machines, of the Corte Madera Municipal Code.
The Town last reviewed and amended its ordinance related to smoking in public places and multi-unit housing with the adoption of Ordinance 940 on May 6, 2014, when it recognized the need to ultimately phase to 100% smoke free units in the future. The proposed amendments change the permissible Smoke-Free Multi-Unit Residential Housing units from 80% smoke free, to 100% smoke free. Corte Madera is one of the remaining cities/towns in Marin County that have not implemented 100% smoke-free multi-unit residential housing.
