[ARCHIVED] Community Meeting Regarding Project Homekey Program


In addition to providing information on how to access tonight's Community Meeting regarding Project Homekey and the County's Proposal to Convert America's Best Value Inn in Corte Madera to Homeless Housing ( (Webinar ID: 929 3673 2503), or scroll to bottom of this post for dial-in numbers), we wanted to provide additional information on how you can submit your public comments  to the Marin County Board of Supervisors, who will be hearing this item at their Board meting tomorrow, October 20th.

Tonight's community meeting is informational only.  County and program representatives will be on hand to provide a presentation and answer any questions the public may have regarding this project. All public comment related to this item should be directed to the Board of Supervisors, either in advance of their October 20th meeting, or during their meeting.

If you would like your email to be considered as public comment for that meeting, you can forward it to Please email your comments no later than 3:30 P.M. the Monday before the Tuesday Board meeting to facilitate timely distribution to Board members.  Please include the agenda item number you are addressing and your name and address.  Your comments will be forwarded to the Board of Supervisors and will be placed into the public record. Or you can attend the meeting using the link provided on the Board agenda, or the attached reference guide, and raise your hand at the appropriate time to provide comment during the meeting.

Community Meeting Regarding Project Homekey Program – Conversion of America’s Best Value Inn (1591 Casa Buena Drive) to Homeless Housing

The Town of Corte Madera is facilitating a Community Meeting to provide additional information regarding the County of Marin’s proposal to purchase the existing 18-unit motel site at 1591 Casa Buena Drive for homeless housing as part of the State of California’s Project Homekey program.  The meeting will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 6:30PM via videoconference using Zoom ( This meeting will be attended by Andrew Henning (Program Director, Opening Doors Marin), Leelee Thomas (Planning Manager, County of Marin), and Ashley Hart McIntyre, JD (Homelessness Policy Analyst, County of Marin), who will provide information and answer questions regarding the County’s plan and timeline for occupying, providing services and ongoing operation of this housing facility.  This meeting is a follow up to the presentation provided at the October 6, 2020 Town Council meeting, where this proposal was discussed.  The video recording of that presentation can be accessed here:   

Project Homekey is the State’s next phase of response to protect homeless Californians from COVID-19 and the Governor has made more than $1 billion available for counties to acquire and rehabilitate various housing options such as hotels, motels, vacant apartment buildings, residential care facilities and tiny homes.  For more information on Marin County’s efforts to address homelessness during COVID-19 please see additional information here:
