The Town of Corte Madera is facilitating a Community Meeting to provide additional information regarding the County of Marin’s proposal to purchase the existing 18-unit motel site at 1591 Casa Buena Drive for homeless housing as part of the State of California’s Project Homekey program. The meeting will be held on Monday, October 19, 2020 at 6:30PM via videoconference using Zoom. This meeting will be attended by Andrew Henning (Program Director, Opening Doors Marin), Leelee Thomas (Planning Manager, County of Marin), and Ashley Hart McIntyre, JD (Homelessness Policy Analyst, County of Marin), who will provide information and answer questions regarding the County’s plan and timeline for occupying, providing services and ongoing operation of this housing facility. This meeting is a follow up to the presentation provided at the October 6, 2020 Town Council meeting, where this proposal was discussed. The video recording of that presentation can be accessed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BC67iMJY5pY.
Project Homekey is the State’s next phase of response to protect homeless Californians from COVID-19 and the Governor has made more than $1 billion available for counties to acquire and rehabilitate various housing options such as hotels, motels, vacant apartment buildings, residential care facilities and tiny homes.
