Reminder that the Corte Madera Town Council will hold a public hearing on 9/1/20 (video conference link available on agenda) in order to consider the adoption of an increase to garbage fees charged by Mill Valley Refuse Service (MVRS), increasing by approximately 7.85% the maximum rates that may be charged for delivery of solid waste collection and dual-stream recycling services by Mill Valley Refuse Service, effective retroactively to July 1, 2020. Notice Published 8/21/2020:

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

TOWN OF CORTE MADERA

TOWN COUNCIL– VIA VIDEOCONFERENCE

300 TAMALPAIS DRIVE, CORTE MADERA, CA 94925

SEPTEMBER 1, 2020

6:30 p.m.

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that on September 1, 2020, at 6:30pm, in a meeting to be held via a publicly accessible videoconference (meeting link available on agenda and Town website), a public hearing will be held before the Corte Madera Town Council in order to consider the adoption of an increase to garbage fees.

The Corte Madera Town Council will discuss and consider the adoption of a Resolution finding no objection to a rate increase request for the delivery of solid waste collection and recycling services form July 1, 2020 through June 30, 2021 by Mill Valley Refuse Service, Inc. On June 16, 2020, the Town Council approved postponement of Mill Valley Refuse Service’s Annual Rate Application Hearing and request for rate adjustment until September, 2020. If approved, the rate increase would go into effect with the October 2020 quarterly billing. Please note that the proposed Rate Sheets for consideration show the annual rate compressed into a nine-month period.

The proposed rate sheets and residential and commercial terms and conditions are included with this notice, and the proposed Rate Application can be viewed in full here.  The first rate sheet option shows the proposed rates in the current, tiered rate format with varying rates for “Flat Area”, “Hill Area” and “Christmas Tree Hill Area” based on higher operating costs for garbage collection in the hill areas. The second rate sheet option shows a blended rate structure that may be considered, which spreads the cost of service among all Corte Madera residential curbside customers.

All persons interested in the foregoing are invited to appear before the Corte Madera Town Council at the time, day and virtual meeting place mentioned above.  If you challenge this item in court you may be limited to raising only those issues you or someone else raised at the Public Hearing described in this notice, or in written correspondence delivered to the Town of Corte Madera at, or prior to the Public Hearing.  Correspondence can also be sent to publiccomment@tcmmail.org. All written responses will become part of the public record.

A summary of the proposed rate increase will be available by Friday, August 21, 2020 and copy of the staff report regarding the proposed fee increase will be available on or before Friday, August 28, 2020 online at http://www.townofcortemadera.org, or contact Town Staff at 415-927-5050 for assistance.

I do hereby certify that the foregoing Notice of Public Hearing was duly processed in accordance with all applicable State and Municipal legal requirements. In compliance with the American Disabilities Act, if you need special assistance to participate in this meeting, please contact the Town Clerk at 415-927-5050.  Notification two business days prior to the meeting will enable the Town to make reasonable arrangements to ensure accessibility to this meeting.
