[ARCHIVED] HAZARDOUS WEATHER CONDITIONS: Flood Watch

National Weather Service

The National Weather Service has published the following Hazardous Weather Conditions:

...FLOOD WATCH IS IN EFFECT THROUGH LATE WEDNESDAY NIGHT...

* Moderate to heavy rain is forecast to occur across the North Bay through Tuesday night. Forecast rainfall totals during this period of time range from 4 to 6 inches near the coast and in the valleys of the North Bay, and from 6 to 12 inches in the hills and mountains of the North Bay, locally higher amounts possible in the wettest locations.

* Prolonged moderate to heavy rain will result in rapid rises on small rivers and creeks. Flooding of main stem rivers is also likely. Flash flooding is possible from this evening through Tuesday night. Urban flooding in low lying areas is likely. Widespread shallow landslides, rockslides, and debris flows are likely in steep terrain. Commutes this evening through Wednesday morning will be adversely impacted.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A Flood Watch means there is a potential for flooding based on current forecasts.

You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop.
