Applications are now being accepted for Central Marin Police Authority’s Citizen Police Academy, with classes set to begin in February 2018.
The Citizen Police Academy (CPA) starts Thursday, February 8, 2018 and meets once a week for ten consecutive weeks, ending on April 12th. Classes are held from 6:30 to 9:00 p.m. CPA is free and open to adults age 18 and over who live or work in Larkspur, Corte Madera, or San Anselmo.
CPA offers community members an inside look at law enforcement and the opportunity to gain a better understanding of their police department. The course is designed to provide an overview of the agency’s function and operational procedures. In the weekly presentations by department personnel, students are introduced to a wide range of topics and learn about various areas of police work, including CSI, Detectives, Special Response Team, DUI investigation, and much more. Other highlights include a ride-along with a patrol officer and full tours of both our police stations, as well as the Marin County Sheriff’s Communications Center.
For more information, see the class flyer and the application form on our website at www.centralmarinpolice.org/270/CMPA-Citizen-Academy. Class size is limited so applications should be submitted as soon as possible. The application deadline for this session is Friday, December 15, 2017.
