The Corte Madera Planning Commission Public Hearing Notices for the May 9 meeting include several items that may be of particular interest to the public: a second hearing for the proposed Digital Marquee Sign located at the Community Center, a public hearing for the renovation of Budget Inn, and a public hearing for proposed Residential Lot Coverage Zoning Ordinance Amendments. Each item is scheduled to be heard at the Planning Commission meeting Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 7:30pm at Town Hall. Additional information is provided below for your review.
- Digital Marquee Sign at Community Center: On Tuesday, May 9 the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to continue its review of the proposed Design Review and Sign Permit application concerning the modification of the existing freestanding reader board sign in front of the Corte Madera Community Center. The proposal includes replacement of the existing sign panel with new LED sign panel while retaining the existing wooden frame and posts. The panel would be 8 feet wide by 4 feet tall, two-sided with messaging displayed in accordance with policies determined by the Parks and Recreation Commission. Proposed hours of operation would be 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on weekends. The brightness of the sign could be controlled manually but would also be equipped with sensors, allowing automatic brightness adjustment based on time of day and ambient light. - Renovation of Budget Inn: On Tuesday, May 9 the Planning Commission will hold a public hearing to review a Conditional Use Permit, Major Design Review, and Sign Permit for the renovation, rehabilitation and site modifications to the existing Budget Inn located at 706 Meadowsweet Drive in central Corte Madera. The project would renovate all existing buildings and add four additional guest rooms without expanding existing footprint. The proposed project would also include formalizing 23 total parking spaces with pedestrian access and seating and associated landscaped areas. The project includes a sign permit for the new freestanding sign located at northeast corner of the property adjacent to Casa Buena Drive. The proposed changes comply with all development standards for the C-3 Highway Commercial Zoning District. All parking standards are met and are unaffected by this proposal. - Zoning Ordinance Amendments Regarding Residential Lot Coverage: On Tuesday, May 9 the Planning Commission will consider the proposed amendments and provide recommendations to the Town Council on the merits of the proposed Zoning Ordinance Amendments regarding Lot Coverage in the R-1 Medium Density Residential Zone. A subsequent hearing before the Town Council is tentatively scheduled for June 6, 2017 and will be duly noticed in advance.
