  • Councilmembers receive compensation in the amount of $300 per month, with the Mayor receiving $350 per month.  See relevant Municipal Code Section here.

  • In addition to the stipends found in the Municipal Code, the Mayor and Members of the Town Council have the option to enroll in the Town's medical coverage in the same manner as a full time employee. Should a councilmember wish to enroll, it is at their own expense, with a nominal administrative fee covered by the Town. Mayor and Members of the Town Council are reimbursed for qualifying out-of-pocket expenses pursuant to all adopted policies governing reimbursement of employees.

Legislative Resources

At this time, the Town of Corte Madera does not employ a lobbyist on its staff or as a consultant. The cities and towns of Marin County jointly contract with Emanuel Jones & Associates for legislative advocacy services. Working with the Legislative Committee of the Marin County Council of Mayors and Councilmembers (MCCMC), Emanuel Jones reviews all legislative bills for their impact on Marin and takes action of specific proposals. This work includes advocating for the protection of local revenues during the state’s budget process, preserving local control on housing and other issues, and advancing other legislative issues of interest to Marin.  The advocate coordinates visits to the Capitol to meet with and talk to state legislators and other state officials.

The City of San Rafael acts as the lead agency for the purpose of the agreement, but all cities and towns share the cost apportioned by assessed value and population. The total current two-year contract for the 2015 and 2016 calendar years is $75,600. The Town of Corte Madera budgets $3,300 annually for its contribution to this program. In addition, the cities and towns share the cost of a part-time legislative analyst to assist the Legislative Committee. The total annual cost for this contract is $7,000; each municipality contributes $636.The Town of Corte Madera is a member of the League of California Cities. The League hosts City Caucus meetings, which include League lobbyists and contract lobbyists representing cities. During the legislative session, the City Caucus meets regularly to discuss bills affecting cities. Participating lobbyists share information to ensure that the best results for all cities are achieved legislatively. SB272 Compliance - Catalog of Enterprise Systems

On October 11, 2015, the State of California enacted Senate Bill 272 (SB 272) which required local agencies to make publicly available a catalog of application software (“Enterprise System”) that is used enterprise wide.
 
 “Enterprise System,” as defined by Senate Bill 272 (SB272), is referred to as a system that “collects, exchanges, and analyzes information that the agency uses” in multiple departments and/or is an original data source.
