  1. Goats on Corte Madera Marsh
The Goats Are Back to Help Prevent Fires on the Marsh

The goats are back at Corte Madera Marsh, and you can see them at work during the next couple of weeks on the marshlands across from the Village at Corte Madera Shopping Center. This marks the third summer that the Golden Gate Bridge District has brought in the goats to reduce the risk of wildfire on the marsh. Over the next six weeks, approximately one thousand goats will clear about 35 acres of pampas grass in the fire-prone marshland owned by the Golden Gate Bridge District. The goat rental came about as a result of a collaborative effort to reduce the risk of fire danger in the marshland by the Town of Corte Madera, the Central Marin Police Authority, and the Golden Gate Bridge, Highway and Transportation District.
